Toelichting:
In the 'bush' they had built a tent of canvas above the corpse, surrounded by all the presents he had received during his reign. I was allowed to kneel down and say a prayer. Nobody else could come with me. I was not invited to assist at the burial. The day after his eldest son brought me the cloth and he told me that his father, the King, had received it as a present from the King of Baganda, 'his bloodbrother', he said. It was given to me for the missionaries of Africa, with gratitude. I send the cloth to Esch and there it was carefully kept in a showcase".
